For example, if I count all my containers I may realize I may be missing some containers or over on some, so I just need to adjust what I am making. I always have left overs for lunch because my motto is if it worked for dinner it will work for lunch the next day! Once I have filled in the main meals I count all my containers to see what I am missing and fill it, usually with my snacks. Then I like to fill in some meals that I know I will be having for dinner. It doesn’t have to be neat, I usually go with a scrap piece of paper that I can jot down the days along the top, meals down the left hand side and my container count along the top. I use color coded pens that correspond to my containers. So what does work for me? I have called it the “Filling in the blanks method” I like to write down my breakfast and basic snacks because they are always the same. I am going to try to highlight another popular method next month. If this doesn’t work for you, don’t give up, just try a different method. I like to have a plan and get in and out. I am one of those people that hate grocery shopping when it is busy which unfortunately for this working girl that means that I am more often than not hitting up the supermarket on the weekend with everyone else. we have a plan and we stick to it helping us save time and money in the store.It takes the guess work out of “what should we have for dinner tonight. it helps keep us on track, health wise.Meal planning does two major things for me and my family. I am going to try to be better about sharing my meal plans with you because what most of you don’t realize is that I plan my meals a week in advance… every week! I just haven’t been sharing them! While these aren’t always going to be perfect and there are weeks where I can’t plan every meal (like this week!) please us my plan as inspiration. I try to keep it simple, because it is just two of us what works for us may not work for a family of 3,4 or 5! We always take left overs for lunch because that is what works for us, however, if you have a larger family than you may have to make some healthy lunches as you may not have leftovers but hopefully some of my dinner ideas will help inspire you!
